Lancaster pools face a tougher maintenance environment than many homeowners realize. During summer, temperatures can climb past 110°F, while high winds carry leaves, sand, grit, and fine airborne dust directly into the pool. Add intense UV exposure and hard water, and your filtration system has to work continuously to keep the water clear.
A clogged skimmer basket is more than an inconvenience. When debris restricts water flow, the pump can lose efficiency, run hotter, and struggle to maintain proper circulation. Fine dust that passes through the skimmer can then load the filter, raise pressure, and reduce the system’s ability to remove suspended particles. A consistent maintenance routine is the best way to reduce that strain. This guide is based on the same practical approach we use when servicing Antelope Valley pools. Updated July 20, 2026.
